City Sights

Cruising the cities of Arles and Nice

I opted to skip the included aqueduct tour, sleep in a bit and then take my time roaming the streets of Arles, stopping for tea, and exploring the roman ruins.  It was nice to actually have a very easy day about half-way through my time in France.

Nice is nice!

The final 2 days of the tour were in Nice.  At this point, the rain had caught up to us. It is perhaps ironic that the Fountain of the Sun is in Nice, where we didn't see as much sun on this trip!  A local guide took us around main town and shared about many of the buildings and history of Nice.  In spite of the rain, Nice seemed like a very pretty city and there were many things one could do on their own time.  I spent an afternoon searching for gelato with new friends, walking the promenade, and picking the tour guides' brains about living in France!

Connie's Clue #3

You are not a prisoner of the tour!

I actually never felt trapped on this tour (or the other ones I've taken) - which some solo travelers do worry about.  There was plenty of free time, you could opt out of planned activities, RS groups are 24-28 max, we were given time at many stops to do as we please (with options provided), and tour members were very welcoming.  I felt comfortable asking to tag along with some tour members when we had free time or they invited me to join them - but I also enjoyed just doing my own thing as well.
